.exe error when acrobat reader installed

whenever download , install adobe, makes default program opening .exe files. means cannot open .exe files without uninstalling acrobat reader. there way fix this? everytime open .exe file tries open .pdf , tells me not supported file type.

i running windows vista home premium on gateway laptop. trying install newst version of acrobat reader website.
