Wood Stove Monitoring
hi everyone,
i live in log cabin in rural vermont. it's -1f outside warm our soapstone wood stove. warmed in july when gathering firewood also..
it takes management keep temperature close 72 or prefer. wish these things better:
i have thermocouple flue gas temperature working (example here)

so looks 2 thermocouples , 2 ds18b20s measure temperature, code , lcd display , alarm.
has seen project this? pointers? suggestions??
thanks!

- remember stoke stove before fire gets far down , harder new load of wood burning well
- remember turn stove draft down approach temperature without overshoot
- consider outdoor temperature , current indoor temperature factor in needed heat output
- monitor firebox temperature wood burning
- monitor output flue gas temperature warn of low-temp creosote formation condition
- monitor output flue gas temperature sudden high temperature indicative of chimney fire, sound alarm
- later add servo control of stove draft.

my suggestion set sensors , collect data on few days determine correlation (if any) between measured data , actions need take.
for example, maintaining suitable flue-gas temperature may prevent keeping room temperature low like. or may require inconvenience of applying smaller fuel top-ups more frequently.
is there value in measuring fire-box temperature?
does likelihood of chimney fire justify computer monitoring?
i have solid fuel stove burn smokeless coal. thing love there no electrical item connected it.
also, know, coal may burn less variation in output levels.
