trying to measure the speed of light ?

hello guys

my professor in collage asked me experiment arduino measure speed of light

i tried measure speed of sound hs04 sensor easy pulsein() function

but want ask work light 

i mean laser

sending pulse check basic circuit ldr go high when
it receives pulse pulsein() measure time

or wouldn't work  ==  , does?

the speed of light million times faster speed of sound.
figure out how far away you'd have detect light.
