make browsers use READER not Acrobat

i've got both acrobat reader 7.0.8 , acrobat 8.1.3. want browsers use acrobat reader when pdf link clicked.
things i've tried....

in explorer set file type .pdf opened adobe reader, browsers still open pdf links using acrobat.

acrobat
turn off preference display in browser
reader
run detect , repair

this seems work until run acrobat , resets everything.

i saw link suggesting changing
hklm\software\classes\software\adobe\acrobat\exe point acrord32.exe

that didn't work, after reboot.

is possible or acrobat run pdf link in browser if installed on machine?

(in case cares...i've got gov grant application work reader 8.1.3 , users need acrobat other uses both applications must on systems. know can have them download pdf links generates confusion , woe...this our current work around i'd prefer fix)

thanks

adobe doesn't recommend both acrobat , reader on same program. if
you want have browser use reader. boot computer, run reader,
and don't run acrobat. reader should program used.
