Is it ok that electro magnet heating up ? Maybe connected wrongly ?
hi guys,
i have following elctromagnet:
https://he.aliexpress.com/item/p20-15-holding-electric-magnet-lifting-2-5kg-solenoid-electromagnet-dc-6v-12v-24v/32443244508.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.1a5ccm
i'm connecting directly 9v battery (though supports 12v). , warms pretty high, hot touch, 60 degrees c+.
i understand electro magnet short circuit, reason happening.
is ok ? should limit current how ? should cool fan ?

your link didn't work, can't specs...
are using correct voltage solenoid - seems range of parts.
some solenoids rated intermittent use , not continuous.
the pull-in current required soloenoid higher 'hold' current - reduce supply voltage ( perhaps adding series resistor?) once pulled in , hence reduce heating.
solenoids aren't short circuit - have (perhaps low) resistance - spec say?

allan.
