Thread: MB 5,2 - Disk Utility won't partition; need to nuke and pave; have questions

hey, all,

i've been toying linux year , half, , got new 13" macbook in july. i'd carve out partition karmic on macbook, neither disk utility nor boot camp allow me so. both utilities needing format drive , reinstall.

time machine backups date (as of few minutes ago, matter of fact), i've never restored time machine. understand need boot snow leopard disk have, , i'm choose "restore backup" (or effect, anyway).

don't know if i'll opportunity reformat/repartition drive @ time, or if should boot system disk, reformat, repartition, restore backup.

our cheapo little netbook don't mind plowing in , figuring out go. macbook's different story. i'd have idea of i'm getting before there.

as far goes, since i'm formatting/repartitioning (for dual-boot, os x , karmic-gnome), might go ahead , set few different partitions, /users (os x) , /home (linux), because i'd able @ least access each operating system's data other.

i've found few things partitioned os x installs, , current ubuntu installs have going have /home on separate partition.

presents question (or 2 or three)...
  1. what need in order symlink, say, /home/jeff/documents, et al, respective os x counterparts? gather "shared" partition need non-journaled hfs file format. assume (from previous experience) usernames , passwords need same on both platforms. else?
  2. assuming i'm symlinking /home/* directories /users/* directories (rather other way around), what's bare minimum size partition away with? 512mb? reason ask because don't want bunch of unused capacity hanging out in partitions can't usefully access both systems. hdd 500gb, , it's half full, os x.

    can shrink installed size of os x install (by moving things off onto external drive), until can nas device set here, i'll have live i've got.


so, anyway, i'd love hear folks who've been dual-booting: how partitioned, , if in shoes (starting both installs scratch), partition differently are?

Arduino Uno + KTY81/210 temperature sensor

hi, sorry, new , unsure lot of things, need clarification. haven't found information explains how , why things work, "do this, that" i following guide ( arduino-thermistor-temperature-sensor-tutorial ) connect thermistor arduino uno. here temperature sensor information: temp. sensor 2000r +-1% to92 part.no.:   kty81-210 name:   temp. sensor 2000r +-1% to92 description:   2.5mm, 1980...2020ohm, -55...+150°c and here sensor's data-sheet: sensor data-sheet i have connected same way in guide. works , values being serial printed. what don't understand: 1. thermistor's , resistor's ohm value should equal, correct? in case 2000 ohm? 2. thermistor has ptc, i'm guessing have invert math or use ntc thermistor instead correct values?
