Help! ->Error: Adobe Reader 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close.(5/07/08)

when download , install adobe reader 8.1.2 final installation messages says successful installation. looks good, when try open error message:
adobe reader 8.1 has encountered problem , needs close.

i have uninstalled , re-installed several times, same result.
i have windows xp pro, plenty of free disc space , memory.
i used have adobe reader 7, , worked perfectly. inadvertently uninstalled it, , wish re-install download doesnt seem available.

attempts fix:
cleaned disc , de-fragmented.
disabled antivirus software.

ideas anyone?

i have exact same problem. installed 8.1.2 yesrerday, may 6 , worked until 0830 today, may 7. did same troubleshooting jeff, called adobe help, weren't any. help, is. have answer?

Sketch upload fails with Java error (___REMOVE___/bin/avrdude)!

DHT11 Time out error using v0.4.1library
