Thread: partitioning: mount point to choose for data partition

i partitioning large drive. have made data partitions storage. while setting partition alternative install disk, have /boot, /, /home on separate partitions. rest of disk carved data partitions. @ point of writing partitions , following message: "no mount point assigned ext3 filesystem in partition #1 of lvm vg volumegroup1 bigdata1. if not go partitioning menu , assign mount poinnt there, partition not used @ all. want return partitioning menu? i'm sure want return partitioning menu don't know selection make: leaving aside /root, /, /home rest of choices are: /tmp, usr, var, svr, opt, /usr/local - local hiearchy, enter manually, not mount it. intention keep documents, web page saves, kind of things might kept in home allow less used info go keep out of way... think mount data partitions when needed convenient have @ least 1 mount automatically, think choice allow. recommendations? thanks, wyatt

i think should install partitions except storage 1 , when install finishes can create/format last partition gparted. won't need specify mount point when create it. in order make automatically mount have include drive in /etc/fstab.
