Thread: White terminal window and no title bars

brand new clean install of 9.10. unfortunately, have white window instead of normal terminal window. (no title bar, can't see text.) rest of desktop gui seems ok except have lost title bar programs. if start firefox, not have title bar on it.

problem seems same problem documented @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...al/+bug/127887

however, don't have nvidia graphics card.

new linux , ubuntu please step me though solution.
using old dell diminsion l433c - graphics board detected ubuntu "intel 82810 dc-100 (cgc) chipset graphics controller"

tried adding option "addargbglxvisuals" "true" xorg.conf file, seemed nothing -- expected since don't have nvidia card.

are running compiz? specifically, setting @ system > preferences > appearance, visual effects tab?

having no title bars means "window decorator" not running. try entering
code:
gtk-window-decorator --replace metacity --replace
in terminal window, or alt-f2 'run application' window.
