Thread: Windows Installer

hi,
i've downloaded windows installer, before proceed, theres few things want sure of;

1) have 1 drive on laptop, has vista installed on it, want keep vista, , dual boot ubuntu. installer create new partition free space, leaving install of vista untouched, or overwrite it?

2) have 64-bit system - problem when using windows installer? saw 64 options disc images, no option given windows installer.

also, whats minimum ammount of space should have install ubuntu onto?

i think talking wubi

suggest read this
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/wubiguide

give info need , more

wubi doesn't make partition, instead makes big file on windows drive work on, choose size of file
vista remained relatively untouched, other there new program on , and disk space used up

3gb of space required minimum
you should use >5gb drive space or else cant have wiggle room

explained in example(later), wubi installs appropriate xx-bit os version when goes download files(long wait on part, file ~700mb)

example:
q:why amd64 version of ubuntu getting downloaded , installed?

a:the machine trying install ubuntu on may 64 bit. amd64 installation appropriate 64 bit architectures, no matter if amd or intel.
