Thread: Hanging at Bootup

i installed ubuntu 9.10 in addition windows7 morning , proceeded somehow mess up. last thing did try install driver, believe broadcom, think wireless card, not sure. couldn't tell did. however, computer froze , forced manually shut down.

when start computer in normal ubuntu, goes black show login screen. have waited 10 minutes , nothing happened. windows7 still runs fine thankfully.

can run recovery mode fine, have no idea do, , researching problem confuses me.

appreciated.

edit:

know happened now, still not how fix it. when tried download , install broadcom driver (sta something), computer froze , caps lock key started blinking. pressed ctrl alt f1 , alt f2 because heard might no luck.

give try.
try (from grub) selected recovery shell.

code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-session sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-desktop-data sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-menus sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-system-tools sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-applets
this standard way of preceding when can't boot existing user.
