How can I "proxy edit:" a high-definition project?
this undocumented process, created amazing robert johnston, , solution if find editing hdv , avchd video natively puts stress on system's resources.
proxy editing temporarily substitutes sort of preview video native files, 1 of lower resolution can work more easily. then, when output project, editing , effects applied proxy video applied actual footage, creating high-definition output.<br /><br />here robert's solution:
i have custom project preset 1080i has editing mode of 360x270. render preview 360x270 "mpeg-2 i-frame only." can create own , see if helps editing.
to create own, first pick project preset clicking "setup" on startup screen displayed premiere elements 4. select 1080i 30 or 1080i 25 project preset hdv tree inside ntsc or pal nodes. click "new preset" button, click "save" button, give custom preset name , description of choice. click "save default." exit out of premiere elements.
now open custom preset wordpad. custom preset file in following folder:<br /><br />c:\documents , settings\[login id]\application data\adobe\premiere elements\4.0\settings\custom\
once you've opened in wordpad, scroll down past gibberish until line objectid="6" , change pixelaspectratio 1920,1080 480,360 , change framesize 1440,1080 360,270. save file.
<videosettings objectid="6" classid="58474264-30c4-43a2-bba5-dc0812df8a3a" version="8">
<maximumbitdepth>false</maximumbitdepth>
<pixelaspectratio>480,360</pixelaspectratio>
<framesize>0,0,360,270</framesize>
after saving file, can start pe , create new project based on custom preset. clips drag timeline normal sized, if render preview of it, 360x270. best when magnification set "fit" or 50%.
add titles, effects, transitions. render preview.
you may not think export correctly, far has worked me. thing haven't tried burning blu-ray disc
titles won't come out correctly if change framesizes in of other objectids of custom preset file. change 1 specified.
hopefully gives idea can change frameszie else if don't 360x270."
