Joomla! natively provokes duplicate content? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi folks,

having played around quite bit 1.5rc2 figured out, joomla! seems have been design creating dublicate content large extent. if want use funky article linking features show intro text, show read more, title linkable, section linkable, category linkable, creaze lot of duplicate content. @ point doesn't matter if you're using parameter url's or sef-url's. sef option rewrites url parameters folders and/or files, that's it.

starting incredible "home" link in each , every main menu front page (/home resp. /index.php), should link websites root "/" instead of anywhere else, wondering, if have misunderstood whole site structure theory of joomla! @ all? did research , figured out, seems major issue. there're quite lot of webmasters out there asking same questions. however, core team of old hands in forum seem not bit care issue. there's hardly usable information found of how avoid duplicate content. c'mon guys, accepting dc websites? can't believe that. how can create unique article url's? how can create unique listing (section, category) links without featuring same content multiple times?

thank tricks, comments , hints. , yes, know 1.5 still in rc mode , should not used production sites.... however, plague seems sticking in core already. should've nothing bug , issue fixing until stable version.

download rc 3. follow particular concept closely , have been time. few weeks ago, johan got rid of last bit of system generated duplicate content.

joomla! v 1.5 rc3 *not* duplicate content intro text, read more , title linkable, (which, way 3 ways of saying same thing ).

a blog , article common representation of summary , detail @ blog. no difference between , other blogging software, beit wordpress, drupal, etc. there summary page, , permanent url. not duplicate content.

in 1.0.x series, there system duplicated content @ article level frontpage , article, gone in v 1.5.

searches, frontpage, popular, module matter, category, section blogs, section lists, can used create unique , permanent url without system duplicating these values. spend time rc 3 , celebrate our fortune @ having developers , care.

yes, think have misunderstood. home links work fine in rc3.

if cannot find information on topic, honestly, have not looked @ all. cannot think of other topic has had more airplay. perhaps first post, might have *asked* instead of accused people of "not caring." not nice.

moving forward...

to avoid duplication content in joomla! v 1.5, this:
1. not use pdf, email friend or print icons in article.
2. not link article menu item more 1 time, if using section, category or article link.
3. if must link article second menu item, use "url" menu type , existing url.

the end! that's all you have avoid creating duplicate content in joomla! v 1.5.

no real plague. mistaken thinking. rc 3 in shape. hope helps!
