Thread: GNOME Commander - default application

trying open file in gnome commander (1.2.7 ubuntu 9.04) produces following (not helpful) error message:-

no default application found mime type application/x-glade.
open "file types , programs" page in control center add one.

trying change default application in properties clicking change button has no effect (it changes colour).

default set in nautilus, , works there.

apparently, broken in gnome commander.
says on documentation page, http://www.nongnu.org/gcmd/doc.html#mime :

since gnome has changed follow freedesktop.org standard of handling mimetypes, editing of preferred programs in gnome commander broken (v 1.1.7). have in our todo file, until gcmd can handle edititing of preferred programs, there 2 other ways of managing on user basis; use nautilus or manually edit configuration files controls mime types in home directory.
well, using nautilus didn't me, had particular mime setting set , working in nautilus also, not in gnome commander. manually editing ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list fixed this. check have line in file says:
application/x-glade=name_of_your_preffered_application.desktop

@ http://www.nongnu.org/gcmd/doc.html#mime , , manually editing files @
