Crisper lines

try crisper lines in premiere elements 3.0 ntsc project:

if pixel aspect ratio of clip or still image square (1.0), change 0.9 using interpret footage command. second, in properties panel, uncheck constrain proportions option in motion effect. third, change scale width 111.1%

this came because thought needed new glasses after added psd document 18 pt. , 8 pt. text premiere elements project. document 640x480. had text captured screen looked blurred. thought may have pixel aspect ratio, , right. changing pixel aspect ratio 1.0 0.9 made text crisper, width out of proportion. next calculated needed width of 111.1 (100/.9) put proportion. text stayed crispy after widening proportion. comparing before , after side side, there subtle difference noticeable on standard ntsc tv. it's noticeable when use scale frame size. difference not noticeable if document large , don't use scale frame size.

the other alternative increase image width 640 720 in photoshop while keeping height same. in premiere elements make sure pixel aspect ratio set 0.9 after adding still media bin. if document other 640 pixels wide, increase width 12.5% (640 x 1.125 = 720).

using similar technique on pal project couldn't detect differences, did find changing scale height 100% 101% fixed vertical jagged line problem on images scaled frame size.

i found technique can used in 1080i project. instead of interpretting footage 0.9, use 1.3333, whatever project setting is. in motion effect change scale width 75% (100 / 1.3333) while leaving scale height unchanged.

all depends on video or still having dimensions. if have still that's 1000 x 751 , use scale frame size, can't use technique. odd vertical dimension causes problem.
