Power Supply Problems (12V)

i busy building aquarium controller using arduino mega. have purchased 12v 2 amp ac-dc converter connected directly vin pin (have measured 12v). chose use 1 using power dosing pumps.

when running usb runs smoothly, when use 12v connected vin pin board heats point can not touch it, , running touch screen connected , nothing else. when running vin pin touch screen not run should either (either shows white screen, or when starts not react touching it).

unfortunately more of programmer , not clued when comes circuit design. missing here?

hi,
when run usb controller using 5v directly pc.
when use 12v vin, using controller's on board 5v regulator.
it has drop 12v 5v , in doing dissipates heat due 7v volt drop , current flowing through regulator.
apart controller, other things do have using controllers 5v pin.

12v considered many, including me, high vin or dc socket, 9v more suitable.

can please post copy of circuit, in cad or picture of hand drawn circuit in jpg, png, including power supply?

and if possible picture of project.

thanks.. tom... :)
