Thread: Modem not showing in new mobile broadband connection - ZTE MF636 HSDPA

hi,
complete noob here.

i've been trying usb modem stick work karmic.

modem zte mf626 hsdpa on telstra next g plan.

i've followed guides , links on forums:

  • have deactivated cd autorun on usb stick in xp
  • lsusb showing "bus 002 device 003: id 19d2:0031 onda communication s.p.a."
  • demsg showing "usb 2-2: gsm modem (1-port) converter attached ttyusb1" seems stable well, ie checking periodically doesn't seem disconnecting
  • by way, blue light indicating network communication/modem active lights after device has been plugged in second or so.

when go through network connections , add new mobile broadband connection, there nothing listed in "create connection mobile broadband device" drop-down on first configuration screen - guides i've read should listed here, none debug steps if doesn't.

other guides older versions of ubuntu , earlier versions of modem reference "/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/20-zte-mf626.fdi"file don't have.

can offer advice here?

thanks,
matt.
